Lofgren's Syndrome- a quick overview

Lofgren’s Syndrome is characterized by the triad of:
  • Acute polyarthritis
  •  Erythema nodosum
  • Hilar adenopathy

This condition is generally self-limiting, however, certain features persist for some time. The polyarthritis and arthralgias may persist for up to 2 years and these symptoms may reoccur. The erythema nodosum typically resolves in a few months and the hilar adenopathy generally resolves over time. Note that parenchymal infiltrates and fever may be present.
In terms of investigations, approximately 15% of patients with this syndrome have elevation of their ACE serum levels.
